A post-doctoral position is opened at “Alberto Sols” Biomedical Research Institute (http://www.iib.uam.es/). The project is funded by a Spanish network on “Inflammation and hypoxia: mechanisms involved in protection or tissue damage”. Candidate will focus on validating the efficacy of a therapeutic strategy based on the combination of anti-angiogenic agents (Nat. Med. 6:41-48 (2000). Int. J. Cancer 98:682-689 (2002). Cancer Res. 64: 5632-42 (2004)) and hypoxia inducible conditionally replicative adenoviruses (AdE1A9xHRE. Cancer Res 63:6877-84 (2003)). Non invasive methods will be used in tumor mouse models to monitor HIF stabilization as a consequence of anti-angiogenic treatment using peptide mimetics of thrombospondin-1 displaying potent anti-angiogenic activity (ABT-510). Efficacy of the anti-vascular strategy to further increase the oncolityc activity of AdE1A9xHRE will be evaluated in different tumor types.
Experience with tumor models and adenovirus will be positively considered
The position is available for two years with the possibility for a extension of two additional years after positive evaluation (total duration four years). 33000 euros/year.
