Postdoctoral Research Position
Full salary: 33,500 euros (25,000 euros gross salary)
Location: Centro de Investigación del Cáncer (Cancer Research Center), Salamanca, Spain
We are looking for a highly-motivated postdoctoral research fellow who would like to work on a project investigating the role of apoptosis as a pivotal target in cancer treatment. The major goal of this project is to explore novel therapies triggering selectively apoptosis in tumor cells, with special emphasis on normal and cancer stem cells. The Postdoctoral Research fellow will be integrated in a research team devoted to identify novel targets that induce apoptosis selectively in tumors, and to uncover the apoptotic machinery and ability of normal and cancer stem cells. The project will require skills in animal models in cancer, molecular and cell biology, gene silencing, microarray analysis and cell culture. Previous research experience and/or first-hand experience with murine models, microsurgical techniques, generation of genetically engineered animal models, stem cells, molecular biology and microarray analysis will be an advantage.
The post is available for 12 months and renewable for two additional years. The post is supported by funds from the European Commission (Public Health Directorate) and the Cooperative Network for Cancer Research (Spanish Ministry of Health). The post is available immediately, and the successful candidate is expected to start as soon as possible by April-May 2008.
