Avance de programa (Summary) :
The course will include theoretical lectures and computer exercises.
Topics to be covered include:

-Introduction to genetics and philosophical overview. The genetic theory of evolution and the rise and pattern of variation. Nature and structure of genome. Linkage and linkage disequilibrium mappinig.

-Methodological approaches to “Mendelian” traits and how they work.

-Complex traits. Pehnogenetics and the consequences of evolution by phenotype. Study design. Linkage and linkage disequilibrium analysis of complex traits.

-Non-genetic factors and some inferential issues. Environmental and cultural cofactors.

-Effect size estimation, attributable risk and their equivalents in genetics.

-Causation, association and inference. Conceptual issues and strategies: Interpretation and inferences.
