| Introduction |
| |
|
The “omics” revolution implies many opportunities and challenges in the whole drug life
cycle, from target identification and validation to the selection and dosage of the relevant pharmaceutical treatment for each individual.
Pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics are emerging disciplines dealing with
these issues and deserve particular attention when tackling pharmaceutical R & D,
administering drugs in the clinical setting and planning the training of the health and life sciences professionals.
The present workshop tries to offer an updated perspective of hot topics in pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics,
with special emphasis in the support that bioinformatics tools and integrative knowledge management strategies can provide for the progress of
these novel scientific disciplines.
